Professional statement

Messina Delgado is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (#93296 and supervised by Stamatis Bogdanos #64556) who is always ready to listen and learn.

The tools she uses are done with cultural considerations, and by acknowledging the extra burdens social constructs and systemic environments put on you. Messina start with listening and being a witness to your story. With your consent she will use parts work to assist you in taking an objective stance in your story, and offering yourself compassion. Continuing onto you practicing somatic experiencing to help you understand how your body has responded to your narrative. Paring that with having you engage in mindfulness to help you regulate these sensations. If something pops up that feels harder to regulate/process she may begin to use other tools to get you on the other side of what it is you are going through.

She is also trained in EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing) for children, teens, adults of both the neurodiverse (Autism, ADHD, etc.) and neurotypical populations. With your consent can use it to overcome these larger internal hurdles or trauma(s) also known as PTSD or C-PTSD. You may prefer to take this route initially- if so Messina can oblige.

In-person sessions are available Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday with Fridays and Saturdays available on a case-by-case basis. Online appointments are available Monday through Thursday with Fridays and Saturdays available on a case-by-case basis.

Message to clients

You adapt so much to this world, and now you don’t know who you are any more without feeling stressed, overwhelmed, anxious and/or depressed. You have ways of coping, and yet you want to begin to thrive. You cannot choose how a situation makes you feel, and at the same time, you don’t want it to throw you off course further.

Our time together will be spent figuring these aspects (emotional, intellectual, sensory-based, and behavioral) of life out through your own story. Growing into learning how to listen to yourself so you can trust what it is you know, and what it is you need will be at the core of each session.

All of the work will be done at your pace, and with your specific needs in mind. I am an affirming counselor, and believe counseling should be for everyone. I understand the systemic pressure that can have you trying to “get it right!” A benefit to you may be my stance on de-stigmatizing mental health by avoiding rigid diagnoses and accepting that there is more than one way to thrive and live in this/your world. I will be ready when you are. Until then, good luck on your search.
