Professional statement

Michael is a licensed psychotherapist based in New York City with nearly 20 years of clinical experience providing individual and group therapy. He works with adolescents, emerging adults, and adults, addressing a wide range of concerns including trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use, identity development, and life transitions. He has particular expertise in supporting gay men and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Michael’s approach is client-centered and grounded in talk therapy, integrating evidence-based strategies to help clients build insight, develop coping skills, and achieve greater emotional balance. He is experienced in supporting individuals navigating complex relational, academic, and vocational stressors, as well as those working toward long-term recovery from addiction.

In addition to private practice, Michael has served at NYU’s student counseling center and founded a drop-in center for homeless youth in SoHo, where he combined direct services with therapeutic support for thousands of at-risk young people. He draws on both his clinical expertise and lived experience as a sober person active in queer recovery to create a safe, affirming space for growth and healing.
