Michael Mruz is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in Scarsdale, NY. Michael provides tailored mental health care for individuals and couples. He helps clients overcome the negative impacts of depression, anxiety, OCD, ADHD, and overwhelming stress. Many of Michael’s clients seek therapy as a way to cope with major life transitions, including divorce, moving to a new city, starting a new job, growing a family, or retiring. His empathetic, warm style helps clients feel at ease processing through what’s on their minds.
Michael’s approach to therapy stems from several evidence-based therapy modalities. He practices Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) by teaching clients how to identify negative patterns, especially thought patterns. This is helpful especially for clients who are prone to emotional distress from specific triggers or situations. He also has advanced training in mindfulness practices and uses this knowledge and experience to teach clients various awareness exercises. With couples, he uses Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to emphasize the role that emotions can play in interactions.
Michael earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from Columbia University School of Social Work. He has over 25 years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families. His therapy is nonjudgmental, creating a safe space for clients to heal and grow.
