Professional statement

Nell Ikai is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker offering therapy to individuals, families, and couples through Mellem Clinic, a psychodynamic practice located in Providence, Rhode Island. Many clients come to Nell seeking relief from painful and distressing symptoms such as anxiety, loneliness, grief, depression, relationship stress, chronic illness, and addiction. Nell specializes in helping clients navigate these challenges within an honest and nurturing therapeutic space.

Nell believes that therapy is a collaborative process and approaches her work with warmth and curiosity. She uses a psychodynamic and relational approach to understand how our past experiences impact us today. Over time, Nell helps clients gain a sense of safety, awareness, and a compassionate understanding of themselves and the world around them. When we begin to trust ourselves and treat ourselves with care, our choices, relationships, and surroundings become much more clear.

Prior to joining Mellem Clinic, Nell worked and trained at Prevention Point Philadelphia, Butler Hospital, Stanley Street Treatment and Resources, and the Providence VA Medical Center. Nell is a graduate of the Boston University School of Social Work and a member of the National Association of Social Workers, Rhode Island Chapter.
