Master of Science, MS - Mental Health Counseling Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC Certified Substance Abuse Counselor, CSAC Certified Clinical Trauma ProfessionalYou can’t remember the last time you woke up in the morning feeling relaxed and rested. Before you even open your eyes in the morning, your mind is on overdrive and your thoughts are spinning. It feels like a heavy weight is sitting on your chest. Forget thinking about the fun things in life, you’re just trying to figure out how to get through the day with this gnawing feeling that something is just not right. You’ve been moody, edgy, even downright angry at times, feeling completely intolerant of others. You want to socialize and enjoy your friends and family, but you feel so irritable that you decide to avoid everyone as much as you can. You realize that you’re feeling extra, but people are just driving you crazy. You find yourself replaying scenarios trying to make sense of things, wondering, “Is it me or is it them?” When people begin to experience trauma or other life stressors, it is not uncommon for their lives to feel as if it is unravelling.
I know that no one single approach is the right one for every individual, and so I have been trained in a range of modalities.
Addiction - Coping with emotional discomfort and suffering; reducing or abstaining from unwanted behaviors such as unhealthy gambling or shopping
Alcohol use disorder & addiction - Tolerating emotional discomfort; reducing or eliminating reliance on alcohol; development of new coping mechanisms for stress and suffering.
Drug addiction & abuse - Tolerating emotional discomfort; reducing or eliminating reliance on drugs; development of new coping mechanisms for stress and suffering.
Loss, grief, and bereavement - Emotionally preparing for the anticipated passing of a loved one; managing feelings and reactions to a death or loss of significance; support during the process of healing and acceptance
Trauma - Coping and healing after threatening or scary events, such as witnessing accidents or experiencing sexual, verbal, emotional, or physical abuse
Complex PTSD (C-PTSD) - Recovering from the impact of long-term, repeated traumatic events, such as emotional abuse and neglect
