Pamela von Kleist is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker located in Greenville, SC. She supports both individuals and couples who struggle with intense emotions like depression, anxiety, and grief. Many of her clients previously experienced traumatic events, like abuse or being in a relationship with a narcissist, which lead to overwhelming feelings of fear and danger. They seek therapy to find strategies to reduce the negative impacts of their mental health on their everyday lives.
Pamela’s main approach to working with clients is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, a therapy modality that stimulates the brain in a way to help it reprocess painful or distressing memories. She also practices Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), teaching clients how to promote self-positive thought patterns. Often, as a result of their trauma, her clients become stuck in negative self-talk, which can lead to low self-esteem and low self-worth. Pamela helps these clients to recognize how their thoughts influence their emotions and their actions, and how to break out of those patterns.
Pamela earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of South Carolina. She has nearly 25 years of experience working as a social worker, and she welcomes all clients, especially those with diverse backgrounds. Her goal is to provide each client with a secure space to talk through difficult thoughts and feelings, and to find healing so they can move forward.
