Professional statement

Rachael Graham is a Licensed Master in Social Work in New York City. She works with adolescents and adults. Many of Rachael’s clients come in to address anxiety, depression, trauma, and disordered eating. Rachael is particularly passionate about serving young adults. Rachael is trained in several modalities, including psychodynamic, motivational interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Rachael has also completed Level 1 and 2 EMDR training.

Rachael's style is warm, thoughtful, and non-judgmental. When clients first start therapy, Rachael will work to understand the client's past history and set goals together. As treatment progresses, Rachael helps clients to understand the “root cause” of their problems, while also helping clients to expand on their existing coping skills.

Rachael received their MSW from Columbia University. She has worked in the family shelter system and supportive housing for individuals with serious mental health concerns. Outside of private practice, she enjoys walks around Brooklyn with her two Chihuahua mixes.

Message to clients

Beginning therapy is a brave and beautiful step. My goal as a therapist is to help my patients utilize their existing internal strengths to navigate difficulties in their lives in ways that promote self-compassion, acceptance, and positive change. My clients have diverse lived experiences and backgrounds. As such, I approach my practice with an intersectional perspective, understanding there is no “one size fits all” approach for successful therapy. I enjoy working with a diverse group of patients and have particular interests in depression, anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, relationship issues, and low self-esteem. The relationships that are borne from therapy are all unique and valuable. I strive to provide a safe space where my clients can reach the vulnerability necessary to heal from emotional pain and ultimately achieve their best self. I received my BA in Psychology from Macalester College and MSW from Columbia University.
