Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSWRebecca Newkirk is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who offers teletherapy to clients living in Washington, D.C., MD, and VA. She sees teens and adults in their 20s, 30s, and 40s.
Rebecca particularly enjoys working with women who are perfectionists and/or are thriving professionally but having a difficult time in their personal lives. She also has expertise in working with individuals who have imposter syndrome, low self esteem, and/or are people pleasers who have a hard time setting boundaries. Many of the teens she works with have anxiety due to high expectations from their parents.
Rebecca has specialized training in IFS, mindfulness practices, including Mindfulness-based stress reduction, an evidence-based program that can assist people with stress, anxiety, depression, and pain. She also frequently utilizes Gestalt Therapy and Narrative Therapy to help clients redefine their stories and gain a better understanding of their internal values and what is happening in the present moment. She likes to empower clients as much as possible while working together.
Together, Rebecca and her clients explore concrete, actionable steps to help them experience relief now, as well as exploring and working with the roots that created this experience for them in the first place. She has been in private practice for over five years and has extensive experience working with sexual abuse, trauma, and shame. She looks forward to meeting you.

Shame - Decreasing shame and guilt; boosting self-esteem
Relationships - Understanding one’s wants and needs in relationships; exploring patterns of interaction, addressing concerns, and strengthening satisfaction in relationships and dating
