Robby Cale works with artists, writers, musicians, performers, and other creative professionals who have lost the joy in work they once loved. Somewhere in getting good, building a career, an audience, an identity around the craft, making became performing, and play became output to be judged. Many seek therapy when work that once felt like freedom now feels like surveillance: every choice weighed against the market, the algorithm, or a relentless inner critic, until the original spark is hard to find.
Robby knows this terrain from the inside. As a spoken word performer himself, he understands what it is to make something and risk it in front of people, and what it costs when creativity becomes a referendum on your worth. He offers a warm, non-clinical space where creative people can be honest about the fear, the blocks, and the disconnection without having to perform their way through therapy too.
His approach treats play as a physiological state, not just a mindset. A nervous system braced for judgment can't reach the open, exploratory mode where creativity lives, so the work is as much about the body as the story. Sessions integrate somatic regulation, breathwork, and expressive practices alongside evidence-informed therapy, with Reiki and meditative practice available when they fit a client's goals and beliefs.
Together, clients explore how the inner critic formed, what it once protected, and how to make again without it running the show. The aim isn't only to unblock a project, it's to restore the relationship between a person and their own creativity.
Robby is based in Whitefish, Montana and offers telehealth only, licensed in Montana, Texas, Virginia, and Washington. Services are private pay; superbills support out-of-network reimbursement. A free consultation is available.
