Professional statement

Steve Green is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Manhattan who works with adults dealing with depression, anxiety, life transitions, career issues, and those just trying to find themselves. He specializes in working with professionals who feel stuck in ways that prevent them from thriving at their job and in their relationships.

Many of Steve’s clients have been high achievers their whole lives but are now struggling to deal with the pressures of work and everyday life. They often come in complaining of feeling lost, and uncertain how they got to this place; they feel disconnected from their loved ones, and even from themselves. They simply feel like they can’t keep up anymore.

Steve’s treatment approach is grounded in Relational Psychoanalytic Theory. He works collaboratively to help you examine how unresolved issues from the past are creating obstacles that are holding you back in the present. His goal is to help you gain insight into the past and explore the influence it is having on current ways of being. He will help you reconnect with yourself and find new ways of being in the world, without losing that thing that made you, you.

Steve understands that it can be hard to stop and take time for yourself in this fast-paced world. He hopes to provide you with a safe, comfortable space where you can allow yourself to stop and be present for 45 minutes every week. Steve’s office is located in Midtown West, with easy access from Columbus Circle. He looks forward to meeting you.

Message to clients

Deciding to enter therapy can be challenging. The idea of talking about things that you may be struggling to find words for or feel embarrassed about can be so hard. Together we'll find a way to give voice to the parts that feel messy and create a space where it feels safe to share your struggles.

Many of my patients feared that coming to therapy would make them lose who they were and what made them unique but have learned that talking about their feelings and allowing themselves the space to explore them has allowed them to flourish in ways they hadn't before.

I believe the capacity for healing happens in the context of interpersonal relationships. That is why it is so important to find the right fit between patient and therapist. I’m happy to answer any questions and make sure you feel like it's a good fit.
