Dr. Teresa Spillane is a psychologist in Boston, MA specializing in perinatal mental health, postpartum adjustment, physician mental health, college mental health, and psycho-oncology. Dr. Spillane has particular expertise in helping new and expecting mothers with the emotional and mental challenges of the transition to motherhood. My approach to mental health involves asking, How well can this person love and work? How flexible is this person in coping with difficulty? What is the nature of this person's suffering? I try to address all three areas with compassion, empathy, and good humor. With 25 years of experience working with a variety of people, I find the quality of the therapeutic relationship is often the best predictor of a therapy where a person feels, heard, affirmed, challenged, and helped to heal and grow.
