Terry Chang

Terry Chang is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Washington, DC who works with adults and couples and specializes in anxiety, depression, relationship issues, self-esteem, and trauma.

Clients may choose to visit Terry when – despite successful professional careers and busy social lives – they start to feel over- or underwhelmed by the realities of the daily grind. Terry's approach is eclectic. He emphasizes the value of self-exploration and  personal insight for each of his clients; he's trained in psychodynamic therapy, and often incorporates psycho-education for clients to understand and normalize their symptoms. He prioritizes comfort and feelings of absolute safety for each of his clients, and will often add somatic exercises such as breathing and autonomic nervous system reactions for clients to gauge how they’re feeling on a deep, physical level.

Terry is collaborative and engaged in session, and encourages client feedback to gauge their personal progress and any feelings of stagnation. He works with clients to set goals for treatment, and references them throughout their time together to ensure tangible growth.
