10-week Narrative Therapy Group

Description

This group is inspired by Narrative Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). In 10 weeks, we will give careful attention to the stories in our lives, exploring how different perspectives can open new possibilities for meaning and change. This group is well suited for clients who would benefit from structured reflection on their lived experiences, including those navigating identity concerns, interpersonal difficulties, or the lingering effects of stressful or traumatic events.

Group Therapist

Jay Cheng Huang is a Mental Health Counselor located in Flushing, NY. He works with clients who face challenges with their relationships, work-life balance, or complex trauma. Often, these experiences leave clients feeling overwhelmed, distressed, and stuck in negative thought spirals. They might be facing stress related to immigration, work or study, or the pressures of meeting other people’s expectations of them.

Jay specializes in narrative therapy, which emphasizes the client’s resilience in their personal stories and experiences. Clients also explore their identities and what’s important to them, including their core beliefs and significant life values. In sessions, clients deepen their self-understanding and focus in on their innate ability to overcome challenges.

Jay earned a Master’s degree from New York University. He enjoys collaborating closely with clients to give them an active part in their therapy experience. His style is kind, friendly, and open as he helps clients to adjust to what’s happening in their lives and to overcome difficult emotions.
