Description
This group will discuss clinical recommendations for working with people with eating disorders and trauma. We will discuss standards of practice for these individuals as well as discuss dissociative identity disorder and other dissociative disorders if members have clients with these diagnoses. The group will be free flowing at first and then discuss topics related to the work. This group will be virtual for ease of scheduling for members. The group will last an hour and a half. The membership is rolling once the prerequisite 3 members have joined. This group can continue until members would like to stop coming.
Group Therapist
Hayley Miller is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor located in Studio City, CA. Hayley enjoys working with teenagers, young adults, and adults. Her expertise lies in supporting clients through eating disorders, difficult relationships with food and eating, and body dysmorphia. She also helps those with trauma, PTSD, complex PTSD, DID and dissociative disorders. Many of the people she works with suffer from intrusive images and distressing thoughts, which may be the result of childhood trauma.
Hayley takes a person-centered approach and addresses her client’s whole psychological and emotional needs, not just the current presenting problems. She helps clients to adjust the relationship they have with their body and to grow their self-awareness as well as self-compassion. Because many of her clients struggle with their thoughts, she utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), which provide clients with skills in avoiding cognitive distortions and better understanding their reactions. She leverages Health at Every Size and intuitive eating ideas in her work, and helps clients find peace with the many parts of themselves for holistic healing.
Hayley earned a Master’s degree in Clinical and Counseling Psychology with a specialty in Child and Adolescent mental health from Chestnut Hill College. She has over 10 years of experience since her education and tailors her therapy sessions for the needs of each individual.
