About

+ What is the Chicago Center for Cognitve Wellness?

The clinicians at the Chicago Center for Cognitive Wellness are here to help your brain. They work with adults and adolescents who are struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and physical symptoms, with a particular specialty in the treatment of mental health concerns related to cognitive impairment or neurological issues.

These include concussions, a more serious brain injury, ADHD, dementia, or any other kind of neurological condition such as MS, stroke, or Parkinson’s disease.

Many patients come to the center with pain, GI issues, dizziness, headaches, trouble remembering, or confusion. The clinicians at Cognitive Wellness are mental health professionals are uniquely trained in caring for these special cases.

Whatever the problem, they are there to support and guide patients and families, as they work to build the best brain they can.

+ What services do you offer?

Their treatment services include cognitive rehabilitation, psychotherapy, and brain health coaching. Most often this entails weekly, 1-1 meetings with one of their providers; this typically looks and feels like counseling, but the focus is on setting goals to work on between sessions.

They frequently use workbooks and occasionally incorporate brain training software when it is needed to boost a specific skill, such as attention.

The clinicians at Cognitive Wellness take a holistic approach by treating the whole person, and their techniques are rooted in evidence and best practices.

+ What makes the Chicago Center for Cognitive Wellness special?

To support patients, the team at Cognitive Wellness provides neuropsychological assessment to get a good sense of what is going on with a patient's brain. Similar to IQ testing, they are able to objectively measure someone's memory and attention skills, provide a detailed report explaining what's wrong, and offer recommendations for what to do about it.

Many clinics offer this type of service, so what really sets them apart is that in addition to the assessments, they offer treatment services to improve cognitive skills and help people build and maintain independence. In fact, they are a referral destination for several other neuropsychology clinics in the area, helping patients and families implement recommendations and get started on the "what’s next" after a diagnosis of cognitive decline.

+ How does payment work at the Chicago Center for Cognitive Wellness?

Chicago Center for Cognitive Wellness providers are in-network with Medicare and Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO. They accept payment from worker’s compensation polices and out-of-network payments from Aetna and Medicare Advantage PPO plans.

For other policies, they ask for payment up front and assist patients in obtaining reimbursement by submitting claims to insurance on their behalf. They verify coverage and benefits for every patient before the first session and work to ensure that the patient is aware of the anticipated costs.
