Practice Information

Freedom Counseling uses an eclectic group of therapists and therapies to try and reach the varying needs of people in the community. Our main focus is trauma work and helping people let go of conditioned thoughts, beliefs, feelings and behaviors, related to traumatic experiences in life, that leave them feeling stuck and unable to live a better quality of life. We want people to experience the freedom of not being weighed down by their past. We want people to experience the freedom of awareness and acceptance. We are trained in several therapy modalities and are involved in the most cutting edge solutions in the psychology world.

Freedom Counseling offers services to children, teens, young adults, middle aged adults, the elderly, transgender and LGBTQ+ populations, all races, all religions, all cultures and all ethnicities.

What services does your practice offer?

Freedom Counseling is a full service therapy practice serving the Michiana area with two locations: Elkhart and South Bend. We offer individual, couples and family therapy sessions.

We do offer individual EMDR intensive sessions and intensive marriage/couples sessions. Times and cost will vary for these sessions as they are not billed with insurance.

What are your practice's specialties?

Freedom Counseling specializes in all areas of treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, addiction, substance use, domestic violence, stress management, relationship issues, attachment and so much more. We work with children and adults ages 5+.

Freedom Counseling has therapists that are trained in a wide variety of therapies and techniques to provide the best quality of care to as many populations as possible. We are trained in the most up to date EMDR techniques and IFS informed therapies and will continue to be involved in all trainings to stay connected to the most innovative and evidence based approaches to human healing. Everyone has unique needs and our therapists will know how to connect and choose a path of healing that works for you as the individual.

How does payment work at your practice?

Freedom Counseling is in Network with several insurance panels including: Anthem BCBS commercial and Medicaid, Cigna, United Health Care, UMR, Aetna, Meritain, Traditional Medicaid and MHS Medicaid. Not all therapists are credentialed for all insurance companies so please contact for more details about how we can bill for your insurance.

Our fee is $150 for the initial intake assessment. All follow up individual sessions are $125. We do offer individual and couples intensive sessions that are an out of pocket expense and are billed case dependent.

Childhood trauma - Learning how traumatic events in childhood can translate into adulthood; processing through difficult memories with the goal of moving past the experience and lingering symptoms
