Practice Information

Potomac Therapy Group is an award-winning private outpatient therapy practice established to meet the need for highly-specialized, compassionate, person-centered care. We pride ourselves in offering therapy from a diverse and unique group of people for a diverse and unique group of people. Our specialties include mood disorders such as anxiety and depression, women's and men’s issues, couples, families, teens, children, stress, burnout, transitions, relationships, LGBTQ+ issues, identity, sensitivity, confidence, identification of core values, anger, grief and loss, and neurodiversity. We look forward to supporting you, one conversation at a time.

Individual therapy provides support as a client processes feelings, confronts challenges in life, learns new strategies for coping and skills for navigating emotions, increases acceptance and positivity, and improves feelings of emotional well-being. For adults, we provide caring support and gentle curiosity as clients explore mood difficulties, discuss life circumstances, process feelings, consider interpersonal patterns, personal narrative, and life satisfaction. With teenagers and older children, we also address emotional and behavioral difficulties, social pressures, self-esteem, school concerns, self-awareness, relationships, family dynamics, and life transitions. In this very important work with young adults, we use compassion and humor. We understand that emotional support during these highly formative early years positively influences a young person’s future.

Relationship specialists at Potomac Therapy Group work with couples to explore and understand personal histories, attachment patterns, and styles of showing love. They also support couples who are working to identify individual shared needs, core values, and dreams for the future.

Family therapy helps families manage conflict and increase positivity in the dynamic of the family system. All family members' needs and perspectives are explored. Family therapy can be helpful after a major life event, during a time of transition, or as an adjunct to individual therapy.
