Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, PMHNP Doctor of Nursing Practice, DNP Family Nurse Practitioner, FNPDr. Similade Adetunji is a Psychiatric Mental Health Clinical Nurse Practitioner with a Doctorate in Nursing Practice who is located in Annapolis, MD. Similade works with individuals of all ages and also enjoys supporting families with their mental health. Many of her clients seek help with their PTSD symptoms, which could include panic attacks, excessive worry, or relationship conflicts. She also encourages clients to consider their motivation for change, which can be helpful to gain perspective when faced with life transition. When appropriate, she provides guidance on psychopharmacological intervention, prescribing and monitoring medication that can help individuals with their mental health challenges.
Similade earned a Master’s degree in Nursing Practice and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice. She is dual board-certified and has extensive experience helping clients to find effective ways of managing their mental health. She is particularly passionate about educating clients and their families about wellbeing and how to optimize their mental health.
ADHD - Skill-building and support around organizational challenges, distracted attention, procrastination; building and maintaining healthy routines and structure
Anxiety - Coping with excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder)
Bipolar disorder - Developing coping and preventive strategies to stabilize extreme mood swings, including manic and depressive episodes; increasing effective strategies to regulate emotions and maintain a healthy daily routine
Depression - Providing support and promoting healing of hopelessness, low motivation and energy, sadness, irritability, sleep disturbance, and loss of interest and pleasure in life
Schizophrenia - Support monitoring and managing symptoms; building skills and supports to reduce and respond to stressors and sustain a balanced life
Neuropsychological testing - Evaluations of general brain functioning, as well as assessment for changes or impairments. Typically involves an interview, as well as series of tests.
