Al Hoberman is a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and Board Certified Music Therapist practicing online all across New York State. He works with young adults and adults who face challenges with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and substance abuse. Many of his clients have gone through traumatic events or relationships, which have impacted their ability to develop self-identity or to cope with change in their lives, including in their relationships.
Al’s approach to therapy centers around self-acceptance and and good relational health. As a music therapist and creative arts therapist, Al leverages individuals’ innate sense of creativity to give them ways to express emotion. This is particularly helpful for those who feel that they cannot verbalize their thoughts or feelings, and those who struggle to understand their inner worlds. At the same time, Al's approach to developing relationship skills is direct, practical, and down-to-earth, with a focus on learning to listen to your internal cues in order to set personal boundaries you can actually keep.
Al earned a Master’s degree from New York University. He has certificates from The Music Psychotherapy Center, Kint Institute and the Institute for Music and Consciousness. Throughout Al’s ten years working in the mental health space, he’s helped countless individuals to find a sense of peace in their emotions and to express themselves in creative ways.
