Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC Specialties • Insurance & Fees • LocationsAlexandra Descalzi is a Licensed Professional Counselor located in New Jersey. She has over 15 years of experience working as a therapist, and enjoys working with children, adolescents, and adults. Many of Alexandra’s clients face extreme stress, which can lead to anxiety or depression. They also struggle with self-esteem, burnout, and difficulty deriving meaning from their everyday routines. Her work in the mental health field and her devotion to her family brought her to further study the impact of early childhood experiences on development and growth. In her long career, she has observed the long-term negative impact of stress, abuse, neglect, and mental health needs on children and how it transcended into adulthood. She has further learned firsthand the positive effects of incorporating evidence-based mental health treatment.
Alexandra provides her clients with a nonjudgmental, compassionate space to talk openly about what’s happening in their lives. Alexandra allies herself with her clients, cheering them on as they make progress. She educates her clients on basic psychology so they can better understand how their mental health impacts all aspects of their lives. She then gives them the right tools for emotional regulation. For parents and children, she helps them establish healthy patterns so their relationships can grow with respect and love. Clients also benefit from mindfulness exercises, including grounding techniques and a range of coping skills that are tailored to each clients unique story and needs.
Alexandra earned a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Caldwell University. She is an enthusiastic and engaging therapist who helps clients to lead healthy, comfortable, and connected lives. She is currently providing telehealth sessions.
