Allison Reynolds is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Creative Arts Therapist specializing in Music Psychotherapy and Vocal Psychotherapy. She is located in New York City and works with young adults and adults, both in person in her office in Midtown or remotely. She often helps individuals with the emotions that arise from depression, anxiety, complex or developmental trauma, relationship issues, substance use issues, LGBTQAI2S+ and others. Although she is not in-network with any insurances, she helps clients navigate out-of-network options and has a sliding scale.
Allison specializes in Vocal Psychotherapy, an advanced model of music psychotherapy developed by Dr. Diane Austin. Vocal psychotherapy can deepen the therapy process with a focus on our own natural sounds, vocal improvisation, the breath, the mind/body connection, songs and dialogue to promote interpersonal growth and change. Experience how deep breathing, natural sounds and movements can enable a deeper connection between body, mind and spirit.
Through the use of Music Psychotherapy, Vocal Psychotherapy and verbal processing, Allison gently guides clients through introspection into their lives and minds, accessing deep emotions that touch on their inner beliefs, dreams, and needs. Her therapy style helps clients feel empowered and confident.
Allison has a Master’s degree in Social Work from Hunter College and a Master’s degree in Music Therapy from New York University. She has advanced training in vocal psychotherapy and a board certification (MT-BC) in music therapy. She is a professor in the music therapy department at NYU and presents internationally, with her work reaching therapists across the globe.
