Amy Pruitt is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist located in Puyallup, WA. Amy enjoys helping adults and teenagers understand and manage their emotions, whether those emotions are stress, anger, confusion, or curiosity. Many of Amy’s clients start working with a therapist because they feel like they want something different in their lives--they want to feel different. They find themselves crying without an ability to stop or they keep starting fights with loved ones and friends. This may be the result of trauma or it might be a sign of burnout. Amy helps her client look at a bigger picture so they can fully understand their emotions and, in time, better manage them.
Amy’s approach to therapy incorporates narrative therapy, a way for individuals to reflect on their past experiences to make sense of their present or future experiences. She is a strengths-based therapist who shows each client that they are unique and resilient, and that they can overcome any challenge that arises. Clients also benefit from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which can help them to cope with distress in all settings of their lives.
Amy earned a Master’s degree from the University of Oregon. She has twenty years of experience as a therapist, and believes that everyone has the tools they need to live joyful, fulfilling lives. Through therapy, they can sharpen these tools and put them into regular practice.
