Anna Cable is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Providence, RI who enjoys seeing children, teens and adults, addressing issues across the lifespan. She has expertise in parenting and perinatal mental health, and extensive experience working with young adults and the LGBTQ+ community. She provides treatment for anxiety, depression, and grief, and has specialized training in trauma treatment, attachment challenges, child development, and postpartum adjustment.
Anna primarily uses an attachment-based, psychodynamic approach with clients, incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based practices to provide immediate symptom relief as well as deep personal growth. New parents are encouraged to bring their babies to session, especially when struggling with issues related to feeding, sleeping or fussiness.
In her work with children, Anna believes in the fundamental importance of the parent-child relationship. She uses a combination of play therapy and parent consultation, managing behavioral issues with concrete problem-solving while also addressing ruptures in family relationships. Anna brings years of experience and training in child development, early childhood trauma treatment, and school-based consultation to her work with families.
Anna’s warm and empathic demeanor allows clients to feel comfortable exploring the challenges they are facing. She seeks to provide an open, trusting space where no topic is off-limits and clients can go at their own pace.
