Ariella works with individual adults, teens and couples both in person in Tustin, CA, and online with CA residents. Initially in therapy, Ariella works with her clients to name the difficult symptoms they experience, like anxiety, depression, communication struggles, and collaborates with you to find some practical relief from these symptoms. The next step in treatment is focused on looking at the source of of these symptoms and understanding as much as possible how these symptoms are connected to the deeper things of life, in your past and your present. On this practical level, Ariella desires to help you recognize your feelings, validate them, grow in relationship with yourself to regulate through them, and learn to share them with others. You will also work together to create a toolbox of grounding techniques to care for yourself in the midst of your emotions.
On a deeper level, Ariella's approach to therapy is relational. She desires to partner with clients and move through the hurdles in life that may be preventing you from feeling connected to yourself, others and the world around you. Ariella believes that humans are integrated beings, and therefore our mental, emotional, physical, behavioral, spiritual and relational facets of life are all interconnected. Ariella ultimately hopes to assist you in understanding all the parts of you, past and present, and to honor each part. Walking with you in finding healing, by integrating all these parts of you so that you can begin to experience a sense of wholeness, fullness, and love from the inside out.
As a therapist, Ariella is here to partner with you in the messy, intentional, and deep work of finding your true self with the hopes of feeling the abundance and freedom of living as your true self in your life.
Years of Experience: 6 years
Spirituality & religion - Exploring beliefs and practices related to meaning, existence, and spiritual health and healing; enjoying a deeper felt connection with the spiritual dimension of one's life. It is important for me to be an open minded student about whatever beliefs and values my clients hold and to help you move towards what you believe is the "good life". I also work with clients who have experienced spiritual trauma, church trauma, and are deconstructing their faith. I also work with ministry leaders/pastors.
Identity development - Understanding, accepting, and strengthening one’s sense of self through the exploration of family, work, and personal values; addressing issues such as, race, class, gender, and sexual orientation, in the context of self experience. Helping you understand the different parts of your identity and integrating these into your true self. I hope to partner with you in gathering up parts of you that may have been lost along the way in life for the sake of survival; stepping into your authentic self.
Trauma - Coping and healing after threatening/scary events like witnessing accidents or experiencing sexual, verbal, emotional, or physical abuse. Gabor Mate says, "Trauma is not what happened to you, trauma is what happened inside you as a result of what happened to you." This means that due to a traumatic event, a wound of disconnection from ourselves and others occurred inside, and this can be repaired in the present within safe relationships where others witness our trauma, help us process and heal.
Self-esteem - Cultivating self-compassion, assertiveness, and confidence; developing ways to reduce suffering, anxiety, withdrawal, and self-neglect. Feeling a sturdy self of self-esteem can create a sense of sturdiness from the inside out; self-esteem building is integrated and related to building a cohesive sense of self. Self-esteem can feel like you trusting yourself, trusting what your body is communicating to you, validating your experiences, and following through with confidently meeting your needs.
Anxiety - Anxiety can feel like a constant state of restlessness, threat, unsafety, and fear. It can feel like a powerful force that prevents us from deeply connecting to our core sense of self. I believe that the opposite of anxiety is trust, and that slowly helping you build a sense of self-trust, safety, security, and love from the inside out can offer some relief from anxiety that may be invading your life. I desire to support you in your own unique experience of anxiety to find a sense of wholeness.
Loss, grief, and bereavement - Emotionally preparing for the anticipated passing of a loved one; managing feelings and reactions to a death or significance loss; support during the process of healing and acceptance. We can also grieve past relationships and past childhood experiences, wrestling with how they have affected/influenced us in the present. When we allow ourselves space to grieve, we often have permission to move through those feeling of grief and into a place of acceptance, freedom and wholeness.
