Professional statement

Bao Chau Van is a clinical independent social worker who has over ten years of clinical experience. She obtained her master degree in clinical social work at Smith College. Bao Chau clinical training is drawn from psychodynamic and systemic approaches to eclectic interventions such as solution focus therapy, Psychobiological Approach Couple Therapy level II, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Accelerated Resolution Therapy. Bao Chau worked at different therapeutic settings such as school-based, inpatient hospitals, outpatient treatment programs, rehabilitation and residential treatment program. Bao Chau believes in the individual resilience and therapeutic connection provide a healing foundation to overcome challenges. Bao Chau completed her thesis on Lost and Found: Resilience Approaches that Helped the Vietnamese Residents of Biloxi, Mississippi in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. She also co-authored an article “Everything has Changed”: Narratives of the Vietnamese American Community in Post -Katrina Mississippi. In her spare time, Bao Chau enjoys gardening, kayaking and trying out new recipes.
