Professional statement

Bethany works with adults of all ages and is a trusted ally and guide to her clients on their path of self-discovery. With warmth and attuned presence, she welcomes them fully and meets them in each moment. Her approach is relational, creative and experiential.

Bethany provides a safe and grounded space for her clients to express themselves fully and learn more about their mind-body connection.

She uses mindfulness and somatic therapy tools that go beyond traditional talk therapy. These tools create new neural pathways to shift limiting thoughts and beliefs and help her clients step into a healthy place of empowerment.

Using the transformational model of Internal Family Systems (IFS), she helps her clients relate differently with their internal "parts" so they can develop more self-compassion and reduce internal anxiety and stress.

Bethany utilizes psychodynamic and attachment theory, trauma resolution, somatic therapy, Internal Family Systems and the Hakomi method. She also provides education about the brain and nervous system, and teaches concrete skills to manage overwhelming emotions.

Bethany is available for remote sessions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and in-person sessions in Providence on Mondays and Thursdays.

Message to clients

Welcome. You're probably here because there's a lot going on in your life, or there's a difficult issue gnawing away at you. I can relate; life is full of ups and downs and it takes a lot to navigate it all.

I invite you to take a moment and notice your breath. Without judgment, let yourself feel if you are experiencing tightness or relaxation in your body. Observe your jaw, your shoulders, your hands. How does it feel to simply take notice of yourself? It may be a relief to slow down or perhaps it provokes a little bit of anxiety. In either case, I am here to help you understand more about what is happening for you, and develop tools to live a more resilient, balanced and joyful life.

In addition to being a psychotherapist, I am a native Rhode Islander who spent 15 years living in the San Francisco Bay Area. In my free time, I enjoy movement, yoga, dance, creating art, camping and hiking with my dog.
