Psychologist, PhDDr. Brooke Monaco is a licensed Clinical Psychologist located in Pelham, NY and New York, NY. Dr. Monaco is passionate about helping people increase their self-awareness and break out of patterns related to issues such as anxiety, OCD, trauma, and substance use. Dr. Monaco works well with clients who want their lives to be different, but aren’t sure where to begin. You may feel unfulfilled in your routines and relationships, despite placing pressure on yourself to be your best. This can look like perfectionism, performance anxiety, or burnout.
Dr. Monaco utilizes evidence-based therapy modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based strategies, and motivational interviewing. These strategies help clients learn more effective ways to cope with thoughts and feelings and to achieve personal and professional goals. She is an affirming and collaborative therapist who empowers her clients to reach their full potential and experiencing more joy and fulfillment. When clients enter treatment, Dr. Monaco does a through assessment to better understand the client's experience, strengths, struggles, and goals.
Dr. Monaco has advanced training in CBT for anxiety and trauma, DBT, and substance use disorder treatment. This includes working at the Center for Motivation and Change for over 8 years, with a team of expert psychologists treating substance use, trauma, OCD, ADHD, and related issues, where she received advanced training and supervision in a variety of therapeutic modalities.

ADHD - Skill-building and support around organizational challenges, distracted attention, procrastination; building and maintaining healthy routines and structure
Alcohol use disorder & addiction - Tolerating emotional discomfort; reducing or eliminating reliance on substances; development of new coping mechanisms for stress and suffering
Anxiety - Coping with excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder)
Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) - Reducing unwanted intrusive thoughts and rituals by gradually building comfort and confidence facing difficult fears, thoughts, and emotions
Trauma - Coping and healing after threatening or scary events, such as witnessing accidents or experiencing sexual, verbal, emotional, or physical abuse
Relationship issues - Understanding one’s wants and needs in relationships; exploring patterns of interaction, addressing concerns, and strengthening satisfaction in relationships and dating
