Brooke O'Gara is a therapist in Providence, RI. She obtained her Master’s Degree from Salve Regina University in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling. She also has an LCDP (licensed chemical dependency provider) license, and has worked with clients with substance use and addiction. She's worked in the mental health field for over 5 years and has worked with teenagers and adults. Brooke has experience working in group homes, client’s homes for in-home therapy, prisons, and inpatient programs.
Clients that Brooke works with often have difficulty managing and expressing emotions, poor communication and conflict resolution skills, depression, anxiety, and difficulty adjusting to or accepting change. The approaches that she uses in sessions involve exploring thoughts, emotions, and behaviors as well as learning skills to manage different areas and stressors in life. She uses a mindfulness-based outlook to assist clients in increasing awareness of what is happening internally and externally. Brooke's philosophy is driven by the belief that anyone can change their current situation when they are given the tools they need to make changes.
