Professional statement

Caroline works with clients struggling with symptoms from trauma. These symptoms can include guilt/shame, low self esteem, intrusive sexual thoughts/beahviors, dissociative tendencies, as well as challenges within one's relationship.

Therapy with Caroline emphasizes the use of EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), psychodynamic therapy, and couple's counseling techniques. Often client's come to Caroline because they have heard of EMDR, and are curious if it is something that may help them. Others come with a problem rooted in shame or trauma (attachment issues, triggers, low self esteem, and trauma responses) and are unsure of how this can be fixed but are looking for support towards change!

Couples may be looking for improved connection, better communication, and helpful ways to support eachother when one or both individuals are handling their own prior traumas. Caroline welcomes all into her practice, and is happy to help those curious about emdr, as well as help those that see what they are struggling with and have no clue what the first step is.

Therapy with Caroline is introspective, thoughtful, personal, and nonjudgemental. She works to create a safe space for vulnerability, processing, and personal growth. Taking special measures to ensure a personal feel, getting to know you, your values, and remember important details shared. She is an EMDR professional, a certified clinical trauma professional, experience with couples counseling and Gottman method level one, with her masters in mental health counseling from Northwestern University. Offering telehealth in New York, Connecticut, and Rhode Island.

Message to clients

Sometimes we all experience life feeling heavy, messy, or stagnant. We may know how to move forward but be struggling; or we just have no idea and feel like we're stuck on a merry-go-round.

Well, we've all been there and it sure isn't fun.

That's where I come in, I want to help you feel less stuck, get off the merry-go-round and find your center (again). Therapy with me is all about you, what you'd like to explore, and what your goals are- I'll encourage the most authentic version of yourself- laugh, cry, feel unhinged (it's normal!), frustration; this is the place for all of it. You are never "too much". What you may call your "shameful flaws" I'll honor as "quirks" and adaptations needed to survive prior experiences. I want to help you reprocess painful memories and negative self-beliefs that are impacting you present day so that they no long have power over you.

I'm here to support you in moving on from challenges in the past, mitigate these challenges in the present, help you understand yourself or your partner more, and find more peace.

I want therapy to feel like a gift to yourself, I will work hard with you to understand how we can make your sessions feel like just the thing you were looking for to carry on, feel lighter, more at peace, and less stagnant.
