Professional statement

Dr. Dan is an online therapist based in North Carolina who also sees clients in Florida, Illinois, and Colorado. He specializes in helping adults and couples navigate their relationships. He also works with individuals that have a history of trauma and are experiencing symptoms of anxiety that are getting in the way of living the life they want. Sessions will take place online using a secure video connection.

Growth & Gratitude, PLLC, Dr. Dan's private practice serves clients through a convenient and flexible online format that allows for daytime and limited weeknight and Sunday evening availability. Dr. Dan utilizes Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) in his work with couples and has received advanced training in using this highly effective framework. He is also trained to utilize Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) which is one of the most researched and effective tools for helping people change. Mindfulness, Attachment and Learning are also at the core of working with Dr. Dan as he blends a unique style of building bodily awareness and teaching how and why humans have developed the coping skills and defensive mechanisms that they have. This awareness and teaching is central to change and growth.

Dr. Dan has studied human relationships and behavior both in and out of school his whole life. A lifelong learner, he has two post-graduate degrees, two children, two cats, and a wealth of experience from traveling throughout the US and other countries. Dr. Dan has also been a lifelong athlete and continues to explore the limits of partnership and self-reflection while adventuring outside and rock climbing in remote areas.

Message to clients

If you are visiting this page then you are probably wondering if therapy will help you, if it is worth the time and cost, if your partner will actually participate and change, or if being vulnerable with a therapist will help you to feel better each day...Does this sound like you? I have been a therapy client off and on for many years and fully appreciate the energy it takes to book that first session with someone new.

The research on therapy is clear - the most important and meaningful change happens when you feel comfortable with and trust your therapist. Everything else is icing on the cake. So, my first goal is to be kind, direct, and thoughtful. My second goal is to help you learn the best skills and practices to address your anxious thoughts and feelings, stressors, conflict in relationships, and past trauma.

Our sessions will be a full 60 minutes on video with an emphasis on targeting your specific needs and working towards goals to help you sleep better, manage stress easier, and transform the way you feel.

I look forward to working with you!

-Dr. Dan
