Elizabeth Hailey-Smith is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in Evanston, IL. She works with young adults and adults, including parents and couples. Many of these clients struggle with anxiety, depression, or work stress. They experience low self-esteem, which can lead to challenges when communicating with others, especially when communicating their needs. Other clients work with Elizabeth because they’ve recently experienced a loss, processing through their grief and the change that comes with loss. When working with couples, Elizabeth tends to help those going through divorce or separation, as well as those that would like to focus on improving communication.

Elizabeth’s approach to therapy begins with helping her clients recognize and process through their emotions. She also helps clients set goals for themselves and what they want to achieve in therapy, keeping those goals in mind each session. She practices both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to support clients break free from harmful thought and behavioral patterns that tend to lead to negative emotions. When supporting healthy relationships, Elizabeth teaches clients how to communicate clearly and with respect for the other person’s feelings, encouraging couples to talk through their emotional reactions.

Elizabeth earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of New England. She has over 10 years of clinical experience with 30 years of experience in the social services field.
