Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW PhD Specialties • Insurance & Fees • LocationsElizabeth Nelson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New Orleans. She works with adults of all ages. Many of her clients come in to address trauma, life transitions, addictions, anxiety, or depression. She is particularly passionate about serving members of the Queer community, students in higher education, and academics. She also has advanced training in the areas of anxiety, PTSD, substance use disorder, and mood disorders.
She is trained in CBT, DBT, ACT, motivational interviewing and harm reduction. Each client requires a slightly different approach though typically we will look at the thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors that underlie symptoms of such as anxiety, depression, substance use, trauma in order to shift to ways of thinking and interacting with the world that serve us better. This approach supports clients to prepare to navigate life's inevitable ups and downs without losing themselves.
Her style is non-judgmental, supportive, and engaging. When clients first start therapy, we will focus on establishing a strong relationship where they feel safe to express themselves without fear of judgement.
She received her masters in social work from Tulane University and her PhD in social work from the University of Kentucky. She has worked at non-profits focusing on housing for individuals with serious mental illness. Outside of private practice, she enjoys DIY projects on her garden and taking her pup to City Park. She offers both in-person and telehealth session based on client preference.
