Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy, PhD Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFTDr. Émilie Ellis is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in Atlanta, Georgia. They specialize in working with queer and gender diverse clients and survivors of traumatic experiences. Dr. Ellis identifies as queer and uses both she/her and they/them pronouns.
Dr. Ellis draws primarily on narrative therapy, an approach that centers the client's experience of the problem and addresses the influence of systemic oppression on the client's narrative about themselves and the world around them. They are also trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and will incorporate those tools as needed.
Dr. Ellis has been an active clinician in the Atlanta area since 2015. In 2018, they moved to Athens to pursue a PhD to further their clinical MFT skills and knowledge, and graduated in 2022.
Sessions are remote only.

LGBTQIA, gender, & sexuality topics - Exploring topics of sexuality, gender, and identity; coping with discrimination and oppression; navigating relationship, family, and cultural challenges
Relationship issues - Understanding one’s wants and needs in relationships; exploring patterns of interaction, addressing concerns, and strengthening satisfaction in relationships and dating
Trauma - Coping and healing after threatening or scary events, such as witnessing accidents or experiencing sexual, verbal, emotional, or physical abuse
Complex PTSD (C-PTSD) - Recovering from the impact of long-term, repeated traumatic events, such as emotional abuse and neglect
