Professional statement

Francesca C Baslow is a Licensed Psychotherapist located in New York, and works to help her clients become more self aware to move forward and thrive, often by healing their historical wounds that keep them stuck by recreating the same unfulfilling patterns. She works with individuals, but also specializes in couples counseling. Here she seeks to deepen and ease their relationships through building bridges to more connection, creating healthy boundaries and clear communication, toward conflict resolution and fulfillment. Couples may include not only partners, but family members, friends and co-workers.

When clients enter the compassionate and safe space she creates, they often find it easy to connect to her, open up and feel supported. She is a warm, authentic therapist who often brings humor and her engaging personality into sessions. Her practice is inclusive of all clients, no matter the identity, background, or circumstances. Francesca’s goal is to help clients relax their minds, bodies and hearts in the face of change, difficulty, or distress, and give them a space to explore the self they truly are.

Francesca studied at the Gestalt Center for Psychotherapy and Training in New York City, for a 3-year intensive post graduate education upon opening her private practice 16 years ago. Francesca’s approach to working with clients is grounded in Gestalt therapy, a humanistic and compassionate psychotherapy model that is non-pathological, and evidence based. With decades of experience in mental health at all levels of care, she has found that Gestalt techniques have the greatest healing potential - to work through feelings and situations instead of just talking about them. As well, she uses techniques of CBT, mindfulness, family systems, neuroscience and somatic theory, for a holistic framework of healing.

Message to clients

Congratulations on choosing yourself! Join me in creating a compassionate place of healing and growth for you. A space where you can take a deep releasing breath and show up just as you are…with no judgement and only possibility. Therapy is a place where you are supported to become aware of your feelings, patterns, behaviors, thought loops, and are offered many different ideas and techniques to help you move through any change or difficulty. And for those of you who are seasoned therapy goers, we can deepen your experience and healing, ascending to the next level to create more balance and ease in your life.

One of my cherished clients named therapy as ‘being human together’, which is an idea I love. The human experience is miraculous as well as disconcerting, and this is made much more apparent since the world plunged into pandemic, and we turned more to our devices rather than each other. As a fellow human, I am a therapist who prides myself on practicing what I promote, as well as being authentic, warm, engaging and open. I work hard for ‘my people’ caring deeply about anyone who sits across from me. When you commit to yourself, I commit to your well-being. Welcome:)
