Professional statement

Gabe Lopez is a psychotherapist at the Sexuality, Attachment, and Trauma project, a group practice in New York city. Gabe specializes in working with clients who are a part of the queer community, looking to explore kink/bdsm/ethical nonmonogamy, or any other aspect of their sexual identity. He also works with clients who are navigating challenges related to substance use or out of control sexual behavior. Gabe can help manage feelings of depression, feeling stuck, processing past trauma, and more. He offers sessions both virtually and in person.

Message to clients

Maybe you're feeling anxious about intimacy or sex, experiencing relationship challenges, wanting to come out, or just know something's wrong but can't identify what it is. Maybe you're struggling with problematic substance use. Whether you're looking to build confidence, feel less anxious/depressed, or just wanting to be the best version of yourself, I am here to help. As a queer person myself, I have a deep passion for working with clients who are a part of this community and want to explore their sexuality, their relationship to their queer identity, and or overcome feelings of guilt or shame.

Together we'll identify how your past experiences are impacting your present. Through compassionate listening and exploration, I will help you better understand yourself and make meaningful change. My therapy space is one where you can be seen, valued, accepted, and heard. Often how we get stuck is how we transform - in relationships. I believe we can use the relationship you and I are creating to help you gain greater insight and begin to identify a path forward.

If any of this has resonated with you or sparked a feeling of excitement or curiosity, I encourage you to reach out by phone or email to set up a free consultation to see if working together feels like the right next step for you. Taking the first step to seek out therapy is a difficult and courageous decision, and I'm proud of you for getting started!
