Professional statement

Georgia is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker offering teletherapy services to clients throughout Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Although her specialty is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR), she is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Prolonged Exposure therapy (PE). She also has over 10 years of experience as an active-duty counselor and a clinician at the VA addressing trauma, anxiety, and depression. She earned her bachelor's degree in psychology and history and her master's degree in social work. She completed my master-level internship with the VA Hospital and continued as an employee, providing mental health services and earning her LCSW. Having been inspired by her clients at the VA, she was commissioned into the Navy as an officer, providing clinical counseling services to active-duty members and families focusing on embedded mental health and suicide prevention. In her clinical practice, she specializes in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR). She enjoys working with clients and couples who want to overcome anxiety and trauma as well as learn ways to truly thrive.

Message to clients

I am passionate about helping people improve their journey, create positive relationships, and foster their own empowerment. Trauma can affect us in many ways and can often feel like a process that is never ending. Through it all, it is important to remember that you have power within yourself and deserve to feel better. There are many ways to overcome this and create the life you want. My hope is that I can support you as you are finding your way through to the other side of trauma.

One of my favorite quotes is from Viktor Frankl's book Man’s Search for Meaning: “Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.” We often forget that we always have the power within ourselves. To me, it seems that this is where a lot of our internal struggles come from. We are all on journeys through life, with our own lessons we have to learn. Through these, we find our meaning and choose our own way. Sometimes, we just need a little reminder that the power lies within us. I am always honored to have the ability to be part of my clients’ journeys and to be able to give them the space to find their own way.
