Professional statement

As a teenager, I struggled academically and socially at school to fit in with my peers. I had a hard time with my studies. Not knowing that I have dyslexia caused me much grief. My mom and dad chalked my bad grades and attitude up to just being a teenager, but it was more than that. I was struggling with anxiety and self doubt. This lead me into abusive relationships and a eating disorder. After I had worked through my issues, I decided I wanted to help people find their purpose in life. I have also worked with people that have struggled with anxiety and confusion over their sexual orientation. They struggle with how or if or when to tell the world and their friends and family about their life style. My job is to help you find yourself, and to speak for yourself in a more positive and productive way. Having worked as a grief counselor for Hospice has also allowed me to understand grief and loss. I would love to help you through your journey. My theory of counseling follows a client center approach and I believe cognitive behavior therapy is the most effective way to meet your needs. If you need an open-minded, understanding counselor, please feel free to contact me to be that person. I look forward to hearing from you. My favorite quote that I live by is "The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why." – Mark Twain.

Message to clients

Sometimes an individual may just need skills to move through a “life transition,” clarify life goals, and prioritize steps for reaching those goals. This is more of a coaching situation, and I would love to coach you through this life transition. Finally, I view the therapeutic alliance as a partnership requiring mutual trust, respect, honesty, communication, and commitment to do the work.

Certifications in trauma, anxiety, ADHD and anger management. My theory of counseling follows a client centered approach and I believe cognitive behavior therapy is the most effective way to meet your needs. I work by getting to know you as a person since you are the expert on your own life. I encourage growth, self-awareness, understanding and self-care.

I have worked as a grief counselor for Hospice which has helped me better understand grief and loss so I can best help my clients. I have also worked with people who struggle with anxiety and confusion concerning their sexual orientation. I hope to help my LGBTQIA clients find ways to speak and think in a positive and productive way.

Client testimonials

"She was awesome, very understanding and she shared some few things to do to help me start with on the process."

"Gina is great. I was almost instantly comfortable opening up to her and her availability fits mine perfectly."
- Zencare client July 2023
"Awesome intro call - felt relatable, down to earth, and less like I was in the principal’s office to deal with my emotions than therapy ever has for me. Gina was immediately easy to talk to, and I felt absolutely no judgment or pressure. I laughed, cried, and laughed, so I really felt at ease with expressing myself, even at accessing more uncomfortable thoughts."
