Licensed Mental Health Counselor, LMHC Licensed Professional Counselor, LPCIva Svancarova is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Mental Health Counselor located in New York, NY. Iva specializes in treating OCD, anxiety, and PTSD. Many of her clients suffer from the impact of their impulses, compulsions, ticks, daily routines, or habits. These behaviors or thoughts often cause an overwhelming feeling of frustration or result in relationship conflicts. Not engaging these behaviors could even result in a panic attack, which can be a symptom of trauma. Iva helps her clients sort through their thoughts and behaviors and let go of anything that harms their wellbeing.
Iva’s approach to treating her clients draws heavily from the evidence-based therapy modality Exposure Ritual Prevention Therapy, which compassionately empowers clients to rid themselves of the negative emotional reactions they have to certain situations, feelings, people, or thoughts. She also practices Brainspotting and other therapies that support clients who have previously experienced trauma and want to process through that trauma so they can move forward in their lives. By leveraging cognitive behavioral therapy modalities, Iva teaches clients how to become aware of their thought patterns and move towards thoughts that promote healthy behaviors.
Iva earned a Master’s degree from Capella University. She works with clients of all situations to work towards a more comfortable way of living. Her style is kind, nonjudgmental, and supportive. Taking a trauma-informed approach, Iva tailors her treatment for each individual client.
