Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW Specialties • Insurance & Fees • LocationsJanet Wilson is a clinical social worker in Los Angeles, CA. She works with adults of all ages. Many of Janet’s clients come in to address life transitions, especially adjustment to parenthood, struggles with infertility, support regarding foster care or adoption, relationship issues, and grief and loss. Janet is particularly passionate about serving people struggling with infertility, people who need support through the adoption process, and new parents.
Janet is trained in cognitive behavioral therapy in which we examine and challenge thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors and shift them to healthier habits and behaviors. Janet also takes the systems approach, in looking at the systems of relationships one is involved in, and how those interactions can be modified to strengthen onself. In session, Janet also focuses on mindfulness breathing exercises and grounding tools. With these approaches, clients report decreased stress and tension, and they feel they have a safe space.
Janet's style is non-judgmental, engaging, and warm. When clients first start therapy, it is important to establish a positive rapport and relationship in which a client feels safe and nurtured. Through that relationship, Janet works with clients to set and achieve short-term and long-term goals.
Janet received her MSW from the University of Southern California. She has worked at Children's Hospital, working primarily with patients with diabetes. The bulk of her experience has been working in different community agencies, working in foster care and independent adoption. Outside of private practice, she enjoys spending time with family, reading, and decompressing by watching fun TV shows. Janet offers only remote therapy sessions.
