Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSWJennifer Kurland works with adults, adolescents and children seeking help with anxiety, depression, adjusting to life transitions, or navigating work and relationship issues. Jennifer’s clients tend to be thoughtful, motivated and interested in symptom relief or improving their quality of life and relationships.
Jennifer’s approach to therapy is one that values a partnership where client and therapist collaborate to identify the problem in order to work towards solutions. Fostering a safe, non-judgmental environment, in sessions Jennifer focuses on what is most important to the client. She listens actively, helping clients to gain a deeper understanding of their own needs and goals. Her approach has been described as warm, open, interactive and dedicated. Jennifer helps clients gain insight that can be used long after therapy ends.
With advanced training in psychoanalysis, graduate degrees in social work and education, and an undergraduate degree in psychology from a top liberal arts institution, Jennifer draws from the breadth and depth of her training and experience to understand each client as a unique person in their own unique set of circumstances.
Jennifer is currently based in Atlanta/Decatur where she provides both in person and virtual sessions. Prior to moving to Atlanta she lived in New York City, and continues to see clients located in New York virtually. In her virtual practice, Jennifer also sees clients located in Maine.
Anxiety - Coping with excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder)
Depression - Providing support and promoting healing of hopelessness, low motivation and energy, sadness, irritability, sleep disturbance, and loss of interest and pleasure in life
Life transitions - Coping with difficult or impactful life changes, such as moving to a new area, relationship transitions, child rearing, or career changes; learning self-care to better manage resulting stress
Loss, grief, and bereavement - Emotionally preparing for the anticipated passing of a loved one; managing feelings and reactions to a death or loss of significance; support during the process of healing and acceptance
Relationship issues - Understanding one’s wants and needs in relationships; exploring patterns of interaction, addressing concerns, and strengthening satisfaction in relationships and dating
Work stress - Managing overwhelming stress and expectations; increasing effective ways of restoring and maintaining emotional stability and health; addressing challenging relationships with coworkers and bosses
