Joel Sanchez is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who sees clients in New York for online sessions. He specializes in working with clients from communities of color. He also sees clients for trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and depression, and addresses the impact of racism on mental health. His practice is open to individual adults, couples, and families.
When seeing clients for trauma, Joel’s approach is Trauma-Focused CBT. He uses psycho-education to help clients understand their symptoms, then he works with grounding techniques in each session to help clients gain mastery over symptoms that can feel uncontrollable and frightening. The crucial component of this work is narrative based, which helps clients understand the traumatic event in question. Joel goes at a conscientious, compassionate pace, allowing the client to lead their experience.
Joel cares deeply about each of his clients, validating their experiences and working with them to reach a place of self-acceptance and emotional equilibrium.
