Professional statement

Julie's practice is a warm, compassionate, and welcoming environment designed to help clients feel safe. It is a place where individuals can comfortably explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences-completely free of judgment. Therapy in this setting serves as a space to gain clarity and work towards positive change collaboratively. With the client guiding the process, they navigate life's complexities and focus on improving intimate and personal relationships, established family dynamics, and fostering personal growth.

Julie believes in the importance of tailoring therapy to meet each individual's unique needs. Together with clients, she helps to focus on targeted techniques to address a variety of topics such as coping skills, boundary-setting, stress management, grief, self-compassion, and self-care.

Julie's approach is collaborative, grounded in the philosophy that the client is the expert in their own life, while she provides support and encouragement. She believes that a warm therapeutic environment offers a safe space for clients to build confidence and explore life's complexities. Julie knows firsthand that these transformations can and do happen together.

Message to clients

I am seeing clients virtually in both New York and Texas. I specialize in helping adults (ages 17+) manage trauma, anxiety and general stressors, as well as provide evidence-based care for people moving through life transitions. I also work with parents navigating their way through the newborn days to teenage years and beyond.

What’s different about my practice? I pride myself on taking an eclectic, individual approach to therapy, led by the client. I am trained in CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed Internal Family Systems, bringing specialized knowledge, sensitivity and warmth to my practice. For over 15 years, I gained clinical experience working in inpatient and outpatient psychiatry at hospitals. Following these positions, I spent seven years as the high school counselor at Sacred Heart private girls school in NYC, working with both adolescents and their parents.

In 1994, I helped create a mentoring program where I oversaw programs for young adults transitioning from high school to college or training programs. This initiative allowed students to reach their full potential and maximize their chances of success.

The decision to start therapy can be difficult, and I work diligently to make the process as easy as possible for you and your referral. To reduce financial concerns, I am in network for Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, Quest and Carelon. I welcome the opportunity to speak with you more about the services I offer and how we can work together.
