Professional statement

Kaci Schmitt, LPC, LMHC, LPCC, NCC is a licensed mental health counselor practicing in the lovely West Coast states of Washington, Oregon, and California. She enjoys working with adolescents and adults in her private practice.

Many of her clients tend to identify as highly sensitive, and she specializes in working with anxiety, including navigating transitions and stress. Kaci's approach to therapy is guided by her belief that a therapeutic relationship rooted in compassion, warmth, and authenticity between the therapist and client is essential to doing the transformational work that can happen in therapy. She draws from counseling theories that include person-centered therapy, mindfulness-based practices, existential theory, and narrative therapeutic techniques.

She graduated from Oregon State University in 2017 with a Master of Science in Counseling. She began her private practice in 2019, and prior to private practice she worked as a school counselor. While she has had offices in both Vancouver, Washington and Portland, Oregon, she now offers HIPAA-secure teletherapy sessions so that clients can access therapy virtually.

Message to clients

I deeply believe in your ability to find peace, develop your intuition and wisdom to make your own choices about your life, and create new meaning and find healing from trauma, including systemic and intergenerational trauma. I am a strengths-based, humanistic, person-centered counselor. I work with clients throughout the states of Washington and Oregon using a secure teletherapy platform. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and strive for inclusivity and curiosity for all people, both in my personal life and in working with clients. I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, transitions, grief, indecision, school/work stress, and relationship conflicts, among other issues.

I believe that you are ultimately your greatest source of wisdom and in our work together, we can uncover what is keeping you stuck and find what you need to move forward. I believe in the power of empathy and a strong therapeutic relationship when processing pain, confusion, or heartbreak, feeling peace in the present, and finding hope for your future.

Through warmth and encouraging self-compassion and self-reflection, I see myself as a partner in your process of discovering how to live with greater peace and self-compassion. It takes courage to take the steps to find an enhanced sense of wellbeing. I would be happy to meet with you to see if I might be a good fit for you as a therapist.
