Professional statement

Kara Kihm is an intuitive therapist and practices holistic therapy and energy work virtually in the state of North Carolina. Kara has a background working on psychiatric units in hospitals and wondered why she saw the same patients at intake over and over again. Something in the system seemed broken. This led her on a journey to discover how to integrate holistic healing in therapy. Her credentials as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Reiki Master (RMT) and author allow her to use an integrative approach focusing on the mind, body, and spirit. She currently works with women and nurtures each individual client as a whole being. In her practice she uses traditional therapy models such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Somatic work as well as meditative practices, breathing techniques, imagery work and a practice called Mana Gardening. She believes that Reiki/energy work is incredibly beneficial in the healing process.

Kara has written a book, Discovering My Wings, which depicts how her life radically transformed when she started fearlessly following her inner guidance. Kara now works with women helping them access the most empowered version of themselves through finding the voice of their intuition.

Kara helps women learn to listen to their inner wisdom and guidance, get comfortable in their own skin, move through big transitions with grit and grace, find the most empowered version of themselves and Discover Their Wings. She also has a special place in her heart for working with women who are highly sensitive. If you'd like to learn more about being a highly sensitive person, Elaine Aaron has done some incredible research. Kara is a highly sensitive person and has learned importance of working with the nervous system to reduce emotional distress.

Message to clients

Our trials and hardships are what shape us and lead to our transformation. In my experience, life certainly hasn't gone as planned. I never planned on being a single mom or going through a divorce! When life doesn't go as planned, how can we approach transformative times from an empowered space? It can be hard! Especially if you already feel the weight of the world as a highly sensitive person.

Do any of these questions resonate?

Does life often feel heavy and overwhelming?

Are you frequently emotionally exhausted?

Do you experience high anxiety?

Are you a deep thinker with a rich inner world?

Does the pressure of time rattle you?

Do you have sensitivities to chaos, lights, and loud noises?

If so you may be a highly sensitive person and trust me I GET IT!

In a safe, nurturing, nonjudgmental space we can work to help regulate your nervous system so life doesn't feel so intense. My goal is for you to feel respected and heard while we work through your process and calm your system. I am continually amazed and inspired by people, and it is a privilege and blessing to work with individuals on their journey of healing.
