Katie Andrews-Guzman is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with 9 years of private practice experience. She is certified in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples and individuals and is trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS) for individuals.
Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) is a practical, healing, and effective form of couples therapy that is best suited to couples who love one another and want to make their relationship work, but feel caught in distance and/or fighting. EFT can help you disempower the cycle of disconnection in your relationship, de-escalate conflict, and establish traction toward a secure and fulfilling relationship. EFT may often feel emotionally raw at times, but it is effective!
Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy is also a powerful therapy model. It can help you disambiguate your inner world and clarify goals and decisions, which are its more immediate and useful goals. However, it is better known and evidenced-based as deep self-work that guides you to perceive yourself with clear eyes, peel back layers of self-protection that often contribute to your concerns, and invite parts of yourself into a healing process.
Katie offers an environment that seeks to balance evidenced-based experiential therapies that get to the heart of the matter with the space to reflect, develop insight, and re-frame so much of what we go through with humor, lightheartedness, and meaning.
In addition to her psychotherapy work, Katie is an oil painter, wife, and mom. She particularly enjoys working with clients who are navigating resistance as it relates to the creative process.
