Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFTKatie Asner Luckerman is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy located in Tarzana, CA. Katie works with individuals of all ages, from childhood to older adulthood, who would like to decrease the amount of stress they experience in their daily lives. She also supports families who would like to create healthier dynamics and patterns, including behavioral patterns. She specializes in helping clients boost their self-esteem, which can help them feel more engaged in their daily interactions with others at school, in the workplace, or at home. Katie also has extensive experience working with clients that are going through major life transitions, whether that’s a marriage, divorce, career change, or loss of a loved one.
Katie’s approach to therapy begins with developing a strong therapeutic bond with her clients. She looks to build trust with each one of her clients, whether they’re seeing her as an individual or as part of a family. She then seeks to empower clients to be authentic and genuine by prioritizing their personal values through a therapy modality called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). By gently prompting clients to examine their challenges from different perspectives, Katie provides clients an opportunity to explore their patterns and recognize what isn’t working for them. She also practices Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, both evidence-based therapy modalities that can help alleviate the mental health symptoms that can lead to relationship conflicts or overwhelming stress.
Katie earned a Master’s degree in 2010, and has over 10 years of experience as a therapist. Katie is a strengths-based therapist who believes that each person she meets has unique strengths that can be leveraged to increase resilience, and that their strength is innate. She values mindfulness and the ability to focus the attention on the present, and strives to teach clients how to ground themselves as they face mental health challenges.
