Katie Chiasson is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and certified trauma specialist located in Delray Beach, FL. Katie offers supportive, empathetic therapy sessions to young adults and adults, many of whom seek to resolve trauma or PTSD. Katie’s clients have experienced adverse experiences in their lives, including throughout their childhood, such as neglect, major life transitions, natural disasters, or violence. They feel overwhelmed with their emotional reactions, which might include anxiety, depression, shame, self-doubt, and guilt.
Katie’s goal in sessions with clients is to help them develop a greater self-awareness so they can better understand their thoughts, reactions, and patterns of behavior. She teaches them practical coping strategies to use when they begin to feel overwhelmed, and provides them with creative ways to release themselves from feeling stuck in the past. Katie provides Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, which also helps clients overcome the challenges of past trauma.
Katie earned a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Florida Atlantic University. She has also earned certificates from the EMDR International Association and the Trauma Institute International. She has over 10 years of experience helping clients overcome trauma and the negative impacts it can have on one’s well-being.
