I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the state of Rhode Island. I enjoy working with High School and College aged students along with adults. I provide treatment for depression, anger, anxiety, adjustment issues of all types, family struggles, bipolar, stress management, college mental health and substance abuse. I do have a special interest in working with athletes because I found that mental wellness is connected to performance on the field, court or rink.
I use evidence-based practice that entails a clinical assessment so that the client and therapist both understand the current issues and then choose the best course of treatment needed. My therapy sessions will entail both goal oriented and skills based approaches. I have over 15 years of experience and expertise in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and commitment therapy, Substance Abuse, Anger Management and Motivational Interviewing techniques.
During treatment, I focus on helping clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected, so they can begin to make targeted change. We will work on strengthening your motivation and movement towards change in order to meet your goals. In treatment, I work on getting clients to explore any discrepancy between your goals and your current actions or in-actions. My approach is collaborative and non-judgmental to help build trust in a safe environment and meet the clients where they are and establish where they want to go. Throughout treatment clients will works on processing their emotions around current stressors, identifying triggers that lead to their symptoms and using appropriate coping methods in times of increased stress.
My practice philosophy is driven by the belief that everyone has the potential to improve their situation if they are given the right tools and support.
