Kimberly Jones received her Bachelor of Psychology and Education from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, followed by her Master of Social Work from the University of California Los Angeles. Kimberly is currently registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
Kimberly has experience working as a psychotherapist serving adults, teens, children and families living with severe and chronic mental illness. She has worked in residential, intensive outpatient, and outpatient based settings. Kimberly received training at Harvard University’s McLean Hospital in DBT prior to attending graduate school. Kimberly is intensively trained by Behavioral Tech in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. She is also a certified mindfulness coach, yoga instructor and breathwork facilitator.
As a therapist use Kimberly uses her experience and in-depth training with Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Prolonged Exposure to help client gain clarity on what they want and on what’s getting in the way. As a coach, she offers services combining breathwork and mindfulness together with process-based and goal directed exercises. Her services assist clients in taking steps towards reaching their goals and building self-esteem so they can reach their version of life worth living. She uses her training to help clients develop the skills and tools they need to move towards a healthy future. Kimberly will help you expand your understanding of equanimity and your ability to cultivate peace in the present. She specializes in helping those who struggle with depression, anxiety and low self-esteem learn how to obtain the tools that they need to take on life’s challenges.
Anxiety - Coping with excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (Panic Disorder), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), specific phobias, body focused repetitive behaviors, and Generalized Anxiety disorder.
Depression - Providing support and promoting healing of hopelessness, low motivation and energy, sadness, irritability, sleep disturbance, and loss of interest and pleasure in life.
Mindfulness and Breathwork - Developing practices to encourage a state of active, open attention on the present. Incorporating practices like meditation, body awareness, mindfulness, and breathwork to enhance relaxation.
Coaching - Identifying intentions and implementing strategies to build resilience and work towards one’s personal, health, or career goals.
Self-esteem - Cultivating self-compassion, assertiveness, and confidence; developing ways to reduce suffering, anxiety, social withdrawal, and self-neglect. Increasing self care and self compassion.
Trauma - Utilizing a treatment modality known as DBT-PE, clients use elements of DBT and Prolonged Exposure to heal from trauma and regain control of emotions. Helping clients reduce PTSD and trauma related symptoms.
