Professional statement

Dr. Kristin Davin is a Clinical Psychologist who welcomes individuals, couples, and families to her practice. She is passionate about helping people transform, build, and sustain healthier relationships both at home and at work. A integral part of her therapy is providing a safe platform so people can tackle communication difficulties and challenges in their relationship and in life using two paths that consistently overlap.

One path is exploring the thoughts and feelings each person is experiencing and the other path is providing the skills and strategies needed for change to occur. She helps people build a strong foundation and recognize the importance of remaining attached to and being able to rely on one another, is key to overcoming and moving through the ups and downs of life that we all experience.

Dr. Davin is trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, which helps clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors intersect and influence one another. She also uses techniques inherent in Solution Focused Therapy and Emotional Focused Therapy and recognizes the importance that using an eclectic therapy approach allows her to meet each client where they are.

She believes strongly that hearing each person's story, especially their first chapter, their family of origin as this first chapter in life often influences the choices that people make in their life is key in therapy.

Dr. Davin works with individuals, couples and families and is licensed in New York, New Jersey, and Florida. She offers online remote sessions in all three states and welcomes clients for in person sessions in the Financial District, NYC. She especially likes to work with young adults helping them navigate life and create healthy and sustainable relationships as they begin their adult life.

Message to clients

People come to me because they are struggling in their marriage or relationship, going through a separation or divorce, dating challenges, or just the day-to-day stressors and not feeling 'like themselves.' Together, we find solutions that put you on a healthier path so you can experience more optimism and happiness while also feeling resilient about your ability to tackle life's challenges and move forward. I believe many things are possible and finding the hidden silver linings and gems in life are key to personal growth.

My philosophy both personally and professionally has been to tackle problems head on, look for solutions, embrace your feelings, and then take steps to become an active participant rather than a passive bystander in your life. Being an active participant in your life allows you to get out of your own way and create the path to something much better. My goal as a therapist is to help you overcome challenges and struggles using insight and reflection collaboratively in a trusting and safe environment.
